Knightly News May 2021

April Meeting
We met in person at the Eagles Club April 19 with over 20 members present. After a tasty buffet lunch, Grand Knight Herb Buhl opened the business part of the meeting. Four members plan to attend the State KofC convention in Lake Geneva May 1st. It is also open to virtual attendance should any others wish to participate. Don Ziegelbauer, Paul Schneider, Ken Vogt and Stephen Schneider will assist CACS with their Brat Fry. Dave Mallmann is preparing things for Bingo in October – date will be determined once the Packer schedule is promulgated. Council voted to give CACS $1000 for the annual scholarship fund. We closed with prayer for those members and families facing hardships.

Fourth Degree
Herb Buhl has arranged another Fourth Degree Exemplification to be held on May 15th. The New Holstein Council has agreed to provide the room
and internet hookup for this easy and “painless” way for all 3rd Degree members to complete the 4th Degree – Patriotism. Any members interested
should contact Herb. If you are not a 3rd degree yet, there is still time to make that happen as well. We already have five expressing interest – come join us!

Tootsie Rolls
After weekend Masses on May 22/23 and then on Saturday June 12th at Wal-Mart we will be soliciting donations for the Intellectually Disabled and giving
out the iconic Tootsie Rolls to all who want one. Let’s make this a successful drive; the funds go to three local groups that work with individuals having
intellectual problems. The need is great and this is a fun way to support these organizations. Last year with the pandemic raging, we skipped the drive, but
still supported these groups from our reserves.

Bingo a GO!
We revisited the possibility of holding our annual Bingo night in Oct. Dave Mallmann was charged with setting things in motion. The group believed
we could find a way to move forward even if the pandemic was not “ under control” by then.

Seminarian Support
We have “adopted” seminarian James Kanning, who is currently studying at St John Vianney Seminary in St Paul, MN. In addition to the financial support we provide, we ask that members remember him in your prayers. With God’s help and prayerful diligence, James could very well complete his
studies and reach his dream of becoming a priest!

Adoration in Chapel
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will expand its hours hopefully in early May. We still support the Saturday 3:00 hour. Please consider joining our
Team – it is a simple and rewarding way to strengthen your friendship with Christ. Contact Lyle Sattler at 849.4050

Leadership Change
Our Council will be holding election of officers in May. So far, Stephen Schneider has accepted the nomination for Grand Knight and John Kost has
indicated a willingness to step into the Deputy Grand Knight position. Remaining Council Officers have been contacted by Herb so we have a full slate
of candidates. Herb encouraged others to submit their names for consideration. None of the roles is difficult and you have others to lean on.

Council Choir to Restart
It is a beginning – after 14 months in mothballs, we will be restarting the KofC Choir in Chilton at the 4:00 Mass, every 3rd Saturday. Father Jon has asked that we begin with smaller groups and add more as the pandemic restrictions recede. So please, if you are interested, contact Herb Buhl so we know who to tap for our debut redo and going forward.

Members in Need
Unfortunately, a significant number of our members are dealing with serious medical conditions. This is not the place to publish a list, but it is appropriate that we all offer prayers for our fellow Knights and their families who are dealing with physical and financial hardship. There is one member to whom we will bring focus, however. Jeff Moehn is now battling serious health issues. Jeff and his wife, Michelle will be the beneficiaries of the May 21 Brat Fry at Farm and Home. Our Council has found the community to be very supportive of families in need, such as the Moehns. Please join us in supporting them – let them know they are not alone!
