November Meeting
The meeting November 21st began at 6:45 PM at Eagles Club. We voted to move our monthly meetings to the Good Shepherd Parish Hall since we no longer require lunch services for the meetings. Switch will be effective with the January 16 meeting. We discussed progress toward our achieving the Columbian Award for this year. The only area requiring additional focus is the Family – several ideas were reviewed as well as action plans.

Coats for Kids
Council members along with other community volunteers facilitated the collection, sorting, cleaning and distribution of coats this past month. It was a very successful event with over 150 youngsters receiving winter coats, hats and gloves. Not only was the operation planned and run efficiently, but the quality of the coats was a cut above some previous drives. A big thank you to the more than 30 volunteers that helped!

Red Kettle Drive
Our Council members again stepped forward with family members to “Ring the Bell” for the annual Salvation Army Fund Drive. Friday November 25th was the day all donations were matched by the Reinl accounting firm. Through the generosity of the community and the philanthropy of Reinl Accounting, the Salvation of Calumet County acquired funds to help continue their Food Bank and other services for the most needy in the area.

Yard Signs
Keep Christ in Christmas signs will again be available this Advent. Please put out your sign from last year or take a new one. They will be available in the church entrance soon.

Member Passes
On Nov 11 the community celebrated the life and passing of John Suttner, veteran, patriarch and long-time member of Council 2556. While he will be missed by many he will be fondly remembered for his great faith, example and leadership in the community. Please keep his wife, Carol and his family in your prayers.

Choir
Our choir ministry is back – Full Strength. We will be singing at the 4:00 PM Mass on the fourth Saturday of each month. Practice is usually at 6:00 PM the preceding Sunday night. Remember the old adage – singing is twice praying! Come and sing.

Dec 1st 6:00 AM Mass
All men are invited to join with other Catholic men each First Thursday for the 6:00 AM Mass followed by breakfast and a short film and discussion – Finished by 7:30 AM. The event is sponsored by Men of Christ and is held each month at Hilde’s Deli. Come whenever your schedule allows. If you would like a breakfast sandwich, sign up at the church entrance so it is ready for you at Hilde’s after Mass.

Poultry Bingo Night
Bingo came roaring back – October 23 at the Eagles Club. Over 120 participants vied for the bingo prizes and due to our generous sponsors and members of Council 2556, there were 60 wonderful door prizes awarded by random drawing. If the smiles and laughter are any indication – it was a very successful evening!

Prayer Warriors Needed
Please pray for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life and for Pro-Life. The evil of abortion is still present and making inroads into state law, even up to the moment of BIRTH!
