Knightly News January 2023
December Meeting
The meeting December 19th began at 6:45 PM at Eagles Club. Past Grand Knight Herb Buhl chaired the meeting. After paying the bills we heard about receipt of several thank-you’s from individuals or groups we assisted last month. Our mission is to be a light of Faith and Charity in our community so we don’t do this for the accolades, but it is still reassuring to know these efforts are appreciated. We prepared the annual raffle tickets for distribution. The Raffle is a key component of our council’s charitable outreach so please be generous in your support!
Miraculous Medals
We will again this year purchase and arrange for distribution of pewter miraculous medals and booklets explaining the sacrament to each of the First Reconciliation students. This is our third year supporting this effort and we have a large class of 32 second graders receiving them.
Meeting Venue Change
Our Council has decided to move our monthly meetings to the Good Shepherd Parish Hall, still the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:45 pm. We appreciate the great support provided by the staff and facilities of the Eagles Club over these many years and will continue to hold social and events e.g., Bingo at the Eagles Club.
Good News to Share
Brother James Holzer gave those present a very positive update on his grandson Henry. You may recall that Henry is the infant for whom we sponsored a Brat Fry in August of this year. He has undergone major surgery and completed an extensive Chemotherapy regimen. While he will continue to be monitored via MRI and CAT scans over the months ahead, the doctors have reported that the cancer appears to be gone and expect Henry to regain his strength quickly.
Brother Guy Arnold had to undergo a leg amputation in November and reported that he is ahead of the “recovery” curve by 3 weeks and is pain free for the first time in many years! He also joked that he was 35 pounds lighter.
Come Talk with Me
Consider this a personal invitation to visit one on one with Me. I gave you the gift of Eucharist so I would be physically present for all time. Can you not watch one hour with Me? Contact Lyle Sattler at 849.4050 to get into the rotation for Adoration in the Chapel of Divine Mercy. The Knights visit 3:00 PM Saturday.

Choir
Our choir ministry is back – Full Strength. We will be singing at the 4:00 PM Mass on the fourth Saturday of each month. Practice is usually at 6:00 PM the preceding Sunday night. Remember the old adage – singing is twice praying! Come and sing.
5:30 AM Rosary and Mass – Jan 5
All men are invited to join with other Catholic men each First Thursday for the 6:00 AM Mass followed by breakfast and a short film and discussion – Finished by 7:30 AM. The event is sponsored by Men of Christ and is held each month at Hilde’s Deli. Come whenever your schedule allows. Rosary begins at 5:30 am.
Prayer Warriors Needed
Please pray for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life and for Pro-Life. The evil of abortion is still present and making inroads into state law, even up to the moment of BIRTH!
