Knightly News March 2023

February Meeting
The meeting February 20th began at 6:45 PM in the Good Shepherd Hall. Paid bills and then approved $250 to Esto Vir Conference and also $500 to seminarian, Nick Klika. Discussed the need to visit homebound Knights and how to celebrate our 100-year anniversary in Oct 2024. Both issues will be explored further in March.

Corporate Communion
Our Council held the annual KofC Mass and Breakfast February 19. All Mass servers were recognized and special awards presented to the three graduating seniors who have continued in this ministry throughout their time in high school – Edward Prescott, Afton Frank, and Phillip Hertel. An excellent meal was served to nearly 100 Knights, servers and their families. The program keynote speaker was Ben Nolan, who kept his audience’s attention as he related his struggle with blindness and how it in some ways facilitated his return to the faith. He shared how he found or was “given” angels along the journey. Ben completed his degree in theology and philosophy at St Norbert’s De Pere and is currently working on his doctorate on-line with Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio.

RSVP
We have another seminarian to support this year with both financial and spiritual help. He is Nicholas Klika and is currently in studies at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Winona Minn. Please keep this young man in your prayers that he stay true to his vocation and finds the grace and courage to serve as a priest.

40 Days for Life Vigil
Our Council has the 8 am to 10 am shift at the Green Bay, Oneida Street Planned Parenthood site Saturday April 1. We depart from Good Shepherd parking lot at 7 am and return by noon as we sometimes have brunch on the way back. Please consider joining us – it is a quiet, non-confrontational public display of our belief in life from the moment of conception to death by natural causes. Anyone can join us!

Come Talk with Me
Consider this a personal invitation to visit one on one with Me. I gave you the gift of Eucharist so I would be physically present for all time. Can you not watch one hour with Me? Contact Lyle Sattler at 849.8126 to get into the rotation. The Knights visit 3:00 PM Saturday.

Prayer Warriors Needed
Please pray for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life and for Pro-Life. The evil of abortion is still present and making inroads into state law, even up to the moment of BIRTH!

Give Us a Try
A Fraternal group of like-minded Catholic men, dedicated to serving our church and community is only one facet of KofC Council 2556. Access to optional outstanding insurance and retirement benefits and regular support and reinforcement of your faith and values are included. Meetings are open – Give us a test drive!

Dan Albedyll
We lost a good guy last month when Dan left us. Most people remember his service as Chief of Chilton Police. We also recall his service as a Knight and Community volunteer in numerous organizations and his work with the youth.
