Knightly News August 2023

July Meeting
The meeting July 17 commenced at 6:45 PM in the Good Shepherd Hall. Members viewed a video from Habitat for Humanity show casing the “Rock the Block” activity in Chilton this past May. GK Stephen Schneider read thank you cards received from the families we helped this past month as well as our other donations. Jason Heiberger and his son, Thomas, came to thank the members in person. Bills were paid and before closing, prayers offered for all members, living and deceased.

Silver Rose in Chilton
On Friday August 4th, the Knights of Columbus will host the Silver Rose in Honor of Life and Our Lady of Guadalupe. Since its inception in 1960 this unique celebration of the sanctity of Life has grown so that now eight silver roses travel different routes through Canada, the US and Mexico ending at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Monterrey on Dec 12. One of these roses will be hosted in Appleton before Chilton and then move to Ft Atkinson. A prayer service lead by Deacon Juan will begin at 6:30 PM at Good Shepherd Parish. The rose recalls the miracle of roses associated with the image Mary left on the tilma. Our Council reaffirms the Order’s dedication to the sanctity of Life and encourages all parish members to celebrate with us.

Come Talk with Me
Consider this a personal invitation to visit one on one with Me. I gave you the gift of Eucharist so I would be physically present for all time. Can you not watch one hour with Me? Contact Lyle Sattler at 849.8126 to get into the rotation for the Chapel of Divine Mercy (Adoration Chapel). The Knights visit 3:00 PM Saturday.

Prayer Warriors Needed
Please pray for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life and for Pro-Life. The evil of abortion is still present and making inroads into state law, even up to the moment of BIRTH!

Give Us a Try
A Fraternal group of like-minded Catholic men, dedicated to serving our church and community is only one facet of KofC Council 2556. Access to optional outstanding insurance and retirement benefits and regular support and reinforcement of your faith and values are included. Meetings are open – Give us a test drive!

First Thursday Aug 3
All men are invited to join with other Catholic men each First Thursday for the 6:00 AM Mass followed by breakfast and a short film and discussion – Finished by 7:30 AM. The event is sponsored by Men of Christ and is held each month at Hilde’s Deli. Come whenever your schedule allows. Rosary begins at 5:30 am.

Choir on Aug 26
The KofC choir has the 4th Saturday of each month. Consider joining us on Aug 26 – 4:00 pm Mass. We even have some gentlemen join us who are not Knights. That is great! – they say singing is twice praying! [At least that is what the nuns told me!]
