Knightly News September 2023

Come Talk with Me
Consider this a personal invitation to visit one on one with Me. I gave you the gift of Eucharist so I would be physically present for all time. The Chapel is open all day every day!

August Meeting
The meeting August 21 commenced at 6:45 PM in the Good Shepherd Hall. We had visitors at the start – Several members of the Legion of Mary came and modeled the sweaters we had helped them acquire with the Logo identifying the group. No bills, but we forwarded the ID Campaign monies to the state, subsidized the Legion of Mary $350 toward their upcoming bus trip and authorized $250 for Coats for Kids. We left it to the GK and DD to determine if the 50% discounted coat program through KofC was a better deal than the current Salvation Army purchase plan. For now, our September Brat Fry will be for our local charities, i.e. no specific beneficiary. Before closing, prayers offered for all members, living and deceased.

Choir on Sep 23
The KofC choir has the 4th Saturday of each month. Consider joining us on Sep 23 – 4:00 pm Mass. We even have some gentlemen join us who are not Knights.

Thank you, CHILTON!
Our Council held the annual ID Campaign August 19 at Wal-Mart and finished on Sunday August 20 at Good Shepherd Church. Your generosity enabled us to raise nearly $1600 for the Intellectually Disadvantaged in our area. We appreciate the management of Wal-Mart for allowing us to stage at the store entrance. I am sure the Tootsie Rolls brought smiles as well!

Landing Day Banquet
Consider joining us for this year’s gathering hosted by the St Nazianz Council at Autumn Ridge Golf Club (between Cty F and C, east of Cty A).
Sunday Oct 15; Reception at 5 PM, 50/50 raffle, dinner at 6 PM, program to follow.
Meal is family style – bacon wrapped pork, parmesan crusted tilapia, potatoes, mixed vegetables.
Cost $25 per person – cash bar.
Our Grand Knight will be contacting members to get headcount and final attendance names together.

Brat Fry Sep 15th
We will host our final cook out of the season on Friday September 15 at Tractor Supply. We will need Council members and other volunteers to make this a success. We have not identified a specific individual or family as beneficiary for the event, deciding to use the proceeds for our local charitable causes in the coming year. The importance of the fundraiser is increased as we will not be able to host our fall Poultry Bingo Party this year.
