Knightly News January 2024

December Meeting
Monday December 18 meeting began at 6:45 PM with Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. We agreed to support Pro-Life Wisconsin with a $100 donation toward the March for Life in Washington DC this January. On behalf of the Salvation Army, John Kost thanked Council members and families for the assistance given to Red Kettle Bell ringing, Coats for Kids, and the Toy Distribution Dec 8/9. Members voted to continue with the distribution of Miraculous Medals to all those making First Reconciliation this spring, including our Hispanic Community. Shared information on members facing medical issues and prayed for them before adjournment.

Do you Believe?
This should be a simple question to answer, but maybe not, as shown in a 2019 PEW survey of Catholics which disclosed that two-thirds of the Catholic respondents held that the Eucharist is merely a symbolic representation of Jesus. So where are you? Are you turning your back on over two thousand years of belief, faith and tradition, to say nothing about the biblical clarity of this great miracle? I encourage you to watch the YouTube video of “Bishop Robert Barron on the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist” a one-hour enlightening address presented at the 2020 Religious Education Congress. Then pray for the grace to better understand this mystery and challenge yourself to greater acceptance and comforting joy with the realization of the incredible gift we have present in our churches.

Men’s Group Underway
We are back! Faith Exploration and ways to grow closer to Jesus. We meet each Monday night at 7 pm in the church hall (except 3rd Monday). A brief social and snack is followed by a 30 min stimulating faith-centered video. As a group we then discuss the video or share aspects of our individual journey. Positive reinforcement and ideas for additional ways to grow closer to Christ and bring our families with us are always present. No long-term commitment – come as often as you can.

Gentle Soul, Big Heart
In June our brother and friend, Ken Vogt, was tragically struck down. Thanks to the generosity of The Chilton Optimists and Ken’s family, a memorial bench has been placed in Nennig Park.

Christmas Party
Dec 17 at Brant hosted by Tri-Parish Council, over 60 enjoyed a scrumptious family style dinner. After which ID Program checks were presented to three organizations that work with our local Intellectually Disadvantaged: New Hope, The Christophers, and The Assoc for Handicapable. Then we had the chance to hear from three young adult missionaries and their work with Spiritus. In concert with Bishop Ricken and the Green Bay Diocese, they travel throughout the state giving retreats and spiritual training to 2nd through 12th graders.
